- Pick a real horizon. Three years is far enough to be worth saying and close enough that you can picture the team who gets you there.
- Say what has to be true, not just how big. Revenue on its own is a target; what the business looks like when it hits it is a vision.
- Include what you want your own week to look like. Most owners leave themselves out and then wonder why the vision does not motivate them.
- Read the result out loud. If you would not say it to your team without wincing, it is not finished.
